Scotland: 7th – 12th August 2015

We’ve just got back from our stay in Dumfries in Scotland where we stayed at Auchenlarie holiday park. I’d never been to Scotland before so I was really looking forward to visiting somewhere new for a little break and it was lovely to spend time with family and just relax! I’ve written about what we got up to and I took a few photos too.

Friday
We set off on Friday
afternoon, around 4pm. The journey was going well, Sophie was happy enough sat
in the back of the car watching DVD’s and she also had a long nap too.
We decided to stop off at the service station near Carlisle
and after a quick trip into Costa for hot chocolate and coffee, we returned to
the car to which decided it wouldn’t start. To cut a long story short,
something had broken which was unfixable. We spent 3 hours waiting for the AA,
whilst trying to entertain a very active 2 year old (what a nightmare haha).
The car was put on the back of the recovery truck at 9pm and we went back on
our way to the holiday park where we arrived 2 hours later. We were determined not to let it ruin the holiday!
Saturday
We were pretty tired so we didn’t really do much to be honest. We already took plenty of food and drink with us so we stayed inside and waited for Toby’s
parents to arrive. We just relaxed and then had an early night (how exciting!)

Sunday
After a nice lie in, we all got ready and Toby dropped his parents off at a family friends’ wedding. We then visited Cream o’ Galloway for ice cream! They had so many different flavours! Sophie had vanilla, I had double chocolate and Toby had vanilla and honeycomb. Sophie took a liking to my chocolate one as well as hers haha. We stopped off at the beach on the way home so Sophie could have a run around and we picked up a takeaway for our tea.

Monday
Once we woke up we realised that Sophie had been awake in the night and had been routing around in Toby’s Mum’s makeup bag. She’d helped herself to her red lipstick (they were sharing a room) and it was all over her face, bed, teddy bear’s etc haha! She wouldn’t go for a nap in the afternoon so she was pretty tired later on, which meant that the evening meal in a local pub was a bit of a disaster as she was overtired.
Tuesday
We visited the beach again which was fun! We played in the sand, built sand castles and paddled in the sea. Sophie absolutely loved it and didn’t want to leave. Although the mention of ice cream helped haha! We went to Cream o’ Galloway again but with Toby’s parents too this time.

Wednesday

In the afternoon Toby and I visited Kirkcudbright. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the sun was shining (for a change haha!). We wandered around the town for a while and on the way back to the car I saw a beautiful home decor shop. After a look around, I discovered they had Jellycat soft toys! Since we were in Scotland we decided on the little cow which Sophie could add to her collection .

Sophie was so good and we all really enjoyed our little break. The scenery is just beautiful too and we can’t wait to go back!
