There are so many things to consider when buying a car and speaking from experience, it can be a pretty daunting task. So I thought I would share a few tips for finding the perfect family car.
RESEARCH
My first and main tip is to do plenty of research online, so you can make an informed decision. You certainly don’t want to rush into purchasing a car and then come to regret it afterwards. This is where websites such as Cars.com come in very useful, as they provide all the information you need about a variety of different cars – including the make, model, year, body style, engine and price – just to name a few. They also have a very useful ‘videos & reviews’ feature, where you can check out the latest reviews and check children’s car seats which grades them on how easy they are to install and access
PRACTICALITY
When choosing a car, you need to think about the essential features the car must have. Plenty of space is a must when you have children. A five door car makes life a lot easier getting the children in and out and depending on how many children you have, it’s also important to make sure that their car seats fit correctly and securely. Plenty of boot space is a necessity too, for grocery shopping and pushchairs if you have really young children.
SHOP AROUND
Once you have decided on the make and model of the car you want, visit a few local dealers and/or private sellers and view and test drive a few different cars. Also try not to buy the first car you see – it won’t be the last and only car you see, and again – you don’t want to rush into making a purchase. It’s also a good idea to take along someone who knows their stuff about cars, to make sure it runs well for example.
