15 Books To Prepare Your Child For A New Sibling

If you’re currently expecting and you’re looking for ways to prepare your older child for a new sibling – then look no further! I have put together a list of 15 books which may help them understand what’s happening and prepare them for the new addition to the family.

We have picked up a few of the books listed below, to read to our (almost) four year old over the coming months – to help prepare her for when she becomes a big sister at the end of the year!

I’m A Big Sister / I’m A Big Brother
What’s In Your Tummy Mummy?
Princess Polly: I’m A New Big Sister
There’s A House Inside My Mummy
My New Baby
Hello In There!
Waiting For Baby
Snuggle The Baby
Olivia: A Guide To Being A Big Sister
I Am A Big Brother
I Am A Big Sister
Pirate Pete: I’m A New Big Brother
Topsy And Tim: The New Baby
There’s Going To Be A Baby
Baby And Me

Which books are your favourites? Did you read books with your older child to help prepare them for a new baby?

Aw, we had a few of these. There's A House Inside My Mummy was a real favourite with us, we read it so much during my second and third pregnancies, I still know it off by heart. x

We bought "I'm a big brother," for our toddler before our second son was born. He stills like having that story read now and the baby is 3 months old. Great list!

We had the waiting for baby book for my son before his little sister was born. Great book to get them used to the idea of a new sibling 🙂

This is such a handy list – here's hoping I don't need it for another while, but it's one so many people will be able to use!

Some great picks. We never bought any book to prepare Matthew for his sister Chloe. She was just there like that pretty much lol.
