Our Family Holiday To Scotland 2016

On the first of August, we made the three hour car journey to Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland for our family holiday. As Toby works full time, we don’t often get to spend quality time as a family, which is so important and I think we were all so ready for a break away from work, nursery etc. We had a really lovely time, so I thought I would share our little adventure with you.

We stayed at the same holiday park as last year, which was pretty average if I’m honest. Although we spent the majority of the time either on the beach or eating ice cream haha! It was so lovely to just relax. I was even able to have some me-time too and I managed to finish two books (Me Before You and the sequel After You if you were wondering). Both of which I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend!

I took some photos of Sophie on the beach, wearing her wetsuit, while Toby and his friends were out on the boat. We built sandcastles together and Sophie loved decorating them with shells. Although you can just imagine her disappointment when the tide came in and knocked them over! She doesn’t look impressed haha!

One morning I decided to take Sophie on the park which is on site, just to get out of the caravan for a bit. It was literally just up the road from where we were staying and it meant she could run around and burn off some energy! I think she looks so grown up in these photos and so independent.

Before we head out to Cream O’Galloway, which is a local ice cream parlour (who make their own ice cream), I took a few photos of Sophie. She was pretending to be a monster, picking daisies for me and running around. We then went for chocolate ice cream, which was delicious!

I adore these photos of Sophie on the beach and I think they’re some of my favourite photos which I’ve taken. She was loving playing in the sand, running around the beach and in & out of the sea. It was amazing to see her so happy!

We visited Kirkcudbright last year, which is a lovely little seaside town and I just fell in love with the place, so we had to visit again this year too. I took some photos of the harbour and the beach huts, we shared an ice cream and also stopped off at the same gift shop we visited last year and let Sophie choose a new Jellycat to add to her collection. She chose the ladybird and it’s so adorable!

We had such a lovely holiday and I can’t wait to book again for next year! Have you been on holiday this year?

I absolutely adore your photos! Looks like a lovely holiday and the ice cream looks amazing! I have only visited Scotland once, before we had children, I would love to go back with the girls though. Went went to Center Parcs in the Lakes back in June for our holiday, think that will be it now until next year unfortunately, but making the most of trips out 🙂
Gorgeous post, will be great to look back on when Sophie is older 🙂 xx

Gorgeous photos – sounds like you had a wonderful holiday in Scotland and like you say, some quality family time is so important. Is it me or does Sophie look incredibly grown up all of a sudden? x
