DUE DATE
31st October 2017
BABY DEVELOPMENT
At 12 weeks baby is the size of a plum, is around 2.13 inches long and weighs around 0.49 ounces. The baby is now able to to bend, stretch, kick and make faces. The sex of the baby is becoming more pronounced and the kidneys are now producing urine from the amniotic fluid that he/she ingests. Because the baby won't be using the lungs to breathe until birth, all the oxygen needed is coming from the placenta.
GENDER
We don't know for sure yet, but I'm adamant it's another girl!
MOOD
I've been feeling really anxious, especially in the run up to the scan it's been three weeks since we last saw the baby. I will be writing a separate post about anxiety in pregnancy at some point, as it has really affected me this time around.
SYMPTOMS
I still have morning sickness but there isn't really a pattern to it and I can be sick any time throughout the day (although it seems to be worse in the evenings). We opted for the combined screening test, so I had to have bloods taken after the 12 week scan. The midwife also informed me at the time I had a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), which had been flagged up at my booking in appointment. I had no idea as the letter had been delayed in the post because of Easter bank holiday. I was put on antibiotics - although I stopped taking them after three days as they were giving me awful stomach cramps however they seemed to clear it up. Apparently my urine now has to be checked monthly too rule out any infections etc.
SLEEP
I have been sleeping quite well actually and I'm not as tired as I was in the early weeks. I did have another vivid dream though, which is horrible. I've also had a couple of dreams about the baby being a girl. It was the same with Sophie and I was right then! I've been using my old pregnancy pillow, which helps me get comfortable at night.
MOVEMENT
I don't think I have felt the baby move yet.
FOOD CRAVINGS OR AVERSIONS
I've been obsessed with crisps this pregnancy - I literally can't get enough of them! I've been really fussy with food and I have to be in the mood to eat certain things.
HIGHLIGHT OF THIS WEEK
It has to be our 12 week scan and seeing our baby again. We also told Sophie about her new baby brother or sister and she is so excited!
LOOKING FORWARD TO
I'm looking forward to our next scan and seeing the baby again!
