Little Dish Pots & Pies Toddler Meals | Review

We were recently chosen to try out the new Little Dish Pots & Pies range of toddler meals and we couldn’t wait to test them out and share our thoughts with you!

We were asked to select five meals out of the eleven listed, so I decided on pasta bolognese, cottage pie, spaghetti & meatballs, chicken & veg risotto and mild chicken curry. I have to say I love the packaging and the traditional look of it. The cooking instructions are simple & easy to follow and I think it’s very useful that all of the meals can be cooked in the microwave or oven. They are the perfect portion size for toddlers and are also an ideal option for busy Mums – as they are healthy and convenient meals.

Up until Sophie started nursery back in April, she was a very fussy eater and wouldn’t try new foods, however now with a bit of gentle persuasion and encouragement, she will try something new (and 9 times out of 10 she actually likes it!). I think it’s a huge improvement since the beginning of the year and nursery has definitely helped her eating habits. In all honesty, Sophie was reluctant to try the first meal once it was put on the table, but after the first taste, she loved it and finished everything on her plate!

I will admit, I’m not the best at cooking and my partner Toby does most it in our household, but I do think carefully about what food I offer Sophie. I personally think it’s important that there isn’t any unnecessary salt or sugar added to meals and we try to encourage Sophie to eat a balanced diet, ensuring she gets enough dairy, fruit and vegetables (with an occasional treat!).

I think the quote above pretty much sums up what you need to know about Little Dish meals, but here’s some more information you may like to know…

Each Little Dish pot or pie:

– Is made using 100% nutritional ingredients
– Is low in salt and contains no added sugar, additives or preservatives
– Provides at least one of a child’s recommended five-a-day
– Contains a source of protein
– Only ever contains British meat and sustainably sourced fish.

We were also provided with the table cover, which is covered in fun and exciting characters, which Sophie enjoyed colouring in while I was preparing her dinner!

Overall, I have to say that I’m very impressed with the meals. They are convenient as well as fresh & healthy and Sophie has enjoyed each meal to date. I would definitely recommend them and I will also be purchasing them myself in future. More information about the meals can be found over on the Little Dish website.

If you want to get your hands on the Little Dish meals, you can find the new range at all major supermarkets, including Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Ocado, Morrisons, Sainsurys, Co-op and Booths. They have an RRP of £2.30 and are suitable for children aged between 1 and 3 years.

These look fab! We are a bit fan of Little Dish already as quite often Bella eats before Josh is even home from work. Her favourite is fish pie but i think she would love all of the ones you mentioned above too! xxx

I don't think there's ever been a time when i haven't had Little Dish meals in the fridge. Though i try to cook fresh and homemade as often as possible, sometimes you just need the convenience of a microwave meal and they don't come much better than Little Dish. xx

There's a stigma around ready meals, especially those for kids, but I have to say, we tried Abbie with some when she was about 2 years old and she loved them! They were perfect on those stressful days when you had no more energy or time to cook something from scratch, knowing they were made with as much local products are possible and no nasties, you can easily reach for it! We've not tried most of the new range but it looks like they have gone down well with your little one! x

We're a big fan of Little Dish ready meals in our house. Unfortunately, it's not always practical for us to all eat as a family in the evenings and these make life a lot simpler. We had been buying the smaller Little Dish meals but my daughter was often still hungry after I think these size portions will be more suited to here. Will be keeping an eye open in the supermarket for them. 🙂

I've never come across these before but they would be ideal for Sylvia- especially on days when we need a quick but healthy and tasty meal for her like after swimming.

Oooo we've not tried Little Dish before Im pretty sure its because they don't have a free from gluten & milk range (but don't quote me on that lol) I will have to double check – I know Hayden would love these meals.
Thanks for sharing hun, need to have a proper look into them

I liked to make my own food for the kids when they were younger but there are always times when you don't have time or you're out and about so I always had a stock of these meals in and they were a lifesaver on more than one occasion x x

I need to try out things like this, especially now that I'm on maternity leave and Little I isn't in nursery full time. I've got more nights a week where I need to feed her dinner and these look like they'd make life a bit easier once the new baba is here!x
