Since we moved into our new home last year, we have been slowly been updating it with new furniture. We always look for something that not only looks nice, but is practical too – which is essential when you have children (and a lot of clutter!). So I wanted to share some of our storage ideas around our home.
Firstly, this is one of our most recent purchases and it’s actually a shoe storage unit. Our hallway isn’t huge, so Toby wasn’t quite sure about purchasing it at first, as he didn’t want to lose space, but in fact it doesn’t actually take up that much room and it means all of our shoes are organised neatly instead of chucked into a basket in our downstairs bathroom. It also gives me somewhere to add a few more decorations, like flowers and candles – which I think makes it look more homely.
We then have the storage unit above from Ikea. You’ve probably seen it before, as they’re really popular – but they’re so versatile and it fits perfectly in this space in our living room, behind the corner sofa. I think it also fits in really well with our decor and is also ideal for tidying away all of Sophie’s toys and I can put certain toys in the top baskets out of reach.
We only purchased this bathroom unit about a month ago, but I am so pleased we did. Our home is a fairly new-build, and although we love it here – we do struggle for storage. This unit is so useful, as I now have somewhere to store spare towels and there are two drawers below, which is great for storing other bathroom essentials and toiletries. I also love wicker baskets, like the one above, as they can be used anywhere around the home and they are pretty inexpensive too!
