There are so many baby products on the market these days, it’s hard to know what items will be essential for your new arrival. Even second time around, I wasn’t sure exactly what items we would need, as a lot had changed in four years since I had my first child. I had already come across Ewan the Dream Sheep and I’d heard great things about it – so I couldn’t wait to try him out.
If you haven’t seen Ewan before, he is an award winning sleep aid, which plays different sounds to mimic the womb. He also has a warm pink glow, which doubles as a nightlight and helps soothe your baby to sleep. The four different sounds (womb and heartbeat, rain, vacuum cleaner and harp music) can be selected by pushing each of the buttons on his legs. He is suitable from birth and the sound & lights play for 20 minutes before it switches off.
We have been using Ewan ever since the day we brought Amelia home from hospital and she is now seven weeks old. It is definitely an item we couldn’t live without now! He is also perfect to use on-the-go, as he can be attached to the pram or car seat by his tail. There is the choice of two colours – grey and purple, however I chose grey as I thought it fitted better with our neutral decor.
The only downside I have found is that he isn’t machine washable – which would be useful considering how messy newborns can be! However this hasn’t put us off using it and we have purchased a second one to keep downstairs in the moses basket for daytime naps.

I would definitely recommend it and I think it would also make the perfect new baby gift too. In my opinion, anything that helps your baby to sleep is a winner!
