We moved into our new home just over a year ago now and we’ve been slowly working our way through the house and decorating each room. Although some of them still need a few finishing touches, they’re pretty much done!
So we decided to start with the smallest room first, which was the downstairs toilet. Then we moved on to the girls’ rooms, main bathroom and en-suite, followed by the hallway and landing, playroom and most recently, the kitchen/diner. So I guess you could see we’ve been pretty busy over the past year!
One of my aims this year was to share more home related content, as I absolutely love anything to do with home interiors. So I thought this would be an ideal time to share the plans for our next project; the living room.
I’ve been desperate to be able to decorate this room and change it around, however we left this room until last, because in all honesty, it’s the room that needed the most money spending on it! The house itself is a new build so it doesn’t need much work, but in terms of layout, we’ve had to sell our much loved corner sofa (which was only a few years old) because it just didn’t fit in the space properly as it faced the wrong way. The only way it would work, was to have it under the window – which I really disliked.
So moving on to the mood board, you will see we have our new sofas picked out – which are the ‘Sophia’ range from DFS. We are still yet to order them (as we ideally wanted to have sold our old sofa first), but I think they will take around 6 weeks to be delivered. So in that time, I’m hoping to completely decorate the room. We’ve chosen the colour ‘Rock Salt’ by Dulux for the walls and the ‘Innocence’ wallpaper in grey for the feature wall. On the same wall, we will be adding a white fireplace, which I thought would be timeless. Above that, I’ll add the ‘Constance’ mirror from Laura Ashley and a few other finishing touches. I absolutely love this TV unit, however I think for the time being we are just going to paint ours and maybe change the handles too.
I will of course be adding some prints to the walls, a blind and other accessories etc. to make it more homely, but I’m so excited to see it all come together. Once it’s finished I will hopefully share a room tour too, so keep an eye out for that.
