I am so excited to share one of my favourite rooms; the playroom! We decided when we bought this house, that we would like a playroom for the girls to play in and somewhere dedicated for all the toys. So I thought I’d do a little playroom tour, if you wanted a little look around.
I have always wanted a playroom, but we’ve never had the extra space to do it. It’s so nice to have all of the toys in one place, as from past experience, they seem to just take over the house! I would have preferably liked to have the playroom downstairs, but it wasn’t possible due to the layout of our house – so instead we have used the second bedroom upstairs, which is a double room and the ideal size for a playroom.
My favourite thing about this room is the dalmatian print wall. If I’m being honest, it was a very brave decision for me, as I’m a big lover of neutral colours and patterns – but it’s fun, which is what a playroom should be! I decided to paint the rest of the room in the colour ‘Calamine’ by Farrow & Ball, which is a really soft pink and I’ve also added a few grey and pink touches to this room. I’m really pleased with how it all came together in the end.
I added this small unit from IKEA in this corner of the room, as it was perfect to display Amelia’s collection of ‘That’s Not My…’ books.
This pastel rainbow abacus was a recent purchase, but the girls love it and I think it looks lovely displayed here when it’s not being used too.
On the back wall, we have a small two seater sofa – which is the ideal size and it’s perfect for them to sit and watch TV on, as we have a Sky Q Mini box in here too. I’ve added a few cushions too, just to make it a bit more comfortable.
I absolutely love this ball pit and its still used daily, two years later! This wall has been left blank, as we will be building a wardrobe at some point, as we just seem to be lacking storage.
On the opposite wall to the sofa, we have the IKEA play kitchen (you can see the full makeover here) and the unit I mentioned previously, although I do need to organise the toys in these baskets and have a little clearout at some point.
I also couldn’t resist adding a few other dalmatian print accessories around the room, just to tie it together and these initial prints were perfect.
I’m so happy with this space and it works for us at the moment anyway! I’d love to know, what you think of it?
