Neutral Nursery Inspiration

Ever since we found out we were expecting our second baby, I had envisioned how I wanted the nursery to look and I couldn’t wait to get started. The baby’s nursery will be what was our spare room, however it’s the small third bedroom in our house – so we need to maximise the space as much as possible.

I have decided on a neutral theme of grey and white, as I love those colours together. We don’t know the gender yet either, so I can always add a touch of colour if I wanted to. It will also match the rest of the decor in our home, apart from our daughter’s bedroom which has touches of pink and floral. I just wanted something different this time around and for it to last.

So here are some of the things I’ve been looking at for the nursery…
1. JELLYCAT BUNNY
A nursery isn’t complete without a Jellycat bunny! We are already huge fans of their products, so we have to buy the baby one too!

2. SILVER CROSS COTBED
I love the classic look of the Silver Cross ‘Notting Hill’ cotbed and it would look lovely in the nursery. I’m not sure whether we will be using Sophie’s old cotbed which is currently in our loft. However cotbeds are definitely worth paying a bit extra for in my opinion, as they last for years.

3. CLOUD SHELVES
I would love to add a few cloud touches to the nursery and I think these shelves would fit the decor perfectly.

4. GREY KNITTED BLANKET
I couldn’t resist this beautiful knitted blanket from The White Company. We have exactly the same one in white from when Sophie was born and it’s amazing quality and an essential for a new baby.

5. WICKER STORAGE BASKET
I bought this in the sale a while ago but I thought it would be perfect for storing soft toys.

6. EAMES ROCKING CHAIR
This looked perfect for a nursery and being able to rock baby back to sleep after the night feeds.

7. SHEEPSKIN RUG
A rug seems to make a room more cosy and I thought a sheepskin rug would be perfect for a nursery.

8. CHEST OF DRAWERS
As I mentioned previously, the nursery is the smallest room so we don’t have a lot of space . However I wanted somewhere to change the baby, without having to buy a huge changing unit. Which is why I thought the Hemnes chest of drawers from Ikea would be perfect and practical – as I can organise the drawers using box dividers and add a changing mat on top to make it a changing station.

I will also be adding some accessories such as cushions and bunting, as well as finishing touches like framed prints and a shelf for books.

How did your decorate your little one’s nursery?

What a great Wishlist. I love that blanket, I cannot go into Mamas and Papas without coming out with a blanket, and my little boy is four now! Exciting times ahead x
