Finding Out The Gender & My Gender Preference – Baby #2

Since finding out we were expecting our second baby, I’ve had quite a few people ask what I’m hoping for. So I thought I would share my thoughts on whether I have a gender preference and if we will be finding out the sex this time around.

Firstly, we have decided we are going to find out the gender of this baby, just like we did with Sophie. I initially loved the idea of having a surprise and I did suggest it to Toby, but we both agreed we don’t think we could wait that long to know and I also think it will help us prepare and bond with the baby, especially Sophie.

After a pretty long and stressful first trimester, I thought it would be nice to book a private gender scan for when I’m 16 weeks. It means it’s not as long to wait until the 20 week scan and this way, Sophie can come along too and find out at the same time as us whether she will be having a little brother or sister. I think it will be a lovely moment to share as a family.

So on to whether I’m hoping for a boy or a girl this time around… and I really don’t mind either way. I know everyone says it, but as long as the baby is healthy that’s all that matters in my opinion. As I said previously, the first trimester was really difficult and we had a few scares in the beginning. So I just feel happy and blessed to be pregnant again, as most people know I have wanted another baby for so long now and it has finally happened for us! I can’t wait to make Sophie a big sister and give her a sibling to grow up with. I just know she will be amazing and will want to help as much as she can.

After having Sophie nearly four years ago, a little girl is what I’m used to and is what I know. Sophie is adamant she is having a little sister and my pregnancy is so similar to last time in terms of sickness etc, I’m also swaying towards another girl. I also have an older sister and we were close growing up and you can’t beat a sister bond. However, I would also love to experience a little boy and there aren’t any boys in our family. So one of each would be equally amazing.

It’s not long until we find out for sure, so keep your eye out for a little gender reveal soon!

Did you find out the gender when you were expecting, or did you keep it as a surprise? I’d love to know!

I always imagined I'd have a little girl so it was a shock for me to have a little boy especially as i only have a sister so no experience of what a boy would be like. Now I'm loving being a mum of a little boy so I definitely don't think if we had another I'd a preference.

how exciting! I feel blessed as I do have one of each, but equally two of the same gender is going to be just as magical! Seeing your eldest become a sibling is amazing x

I don't think I could have a surprise as I'm so impatient! We found out the gender last time, although we will be finding out earlier this time around x
